Thanks for using sumostats! Another great basho! I was traveling at the start of the basho and the code was set to only update day 1 results for a few days. Sorry about that!
I have some time this month (my Japan trip was cancelled), so I'll be working on improving features for the next basho! Some have been left in a half-finished state, so I will be working on finishing those.
It's already been about a year since sumostats went live. I thought it would be an easy project since it would just be a clone of sumodb and basically run itself. But, of course, things are never so simple. Deciding to maintain my own database and trying to keep it up to date with shikona/heya changes, retirements, last-minute banzuke additions, and other general mistakes, it became almost like a job. I appreciate the people who maintain sumodb a whole lot more now.
This year I want to increase the collection of sumo bout videos on the site and self host them. I currently edited about 10 out of ~163 daily bouts so about 150 of the 2322 matches. But this isn’t even 10% and it still takes a lot of time by myself. So I have been working on automating this so it can cut/edit each match without me. It is hard to find good quality video sources because NHK is extremely strict with their copyright stuff. Thanks to Kraz for helping me find some sources. I will explain this a little more in a patreon post at a later date.
I still want to make this a good resource and keep improving it!

Coming for the next basho:
Accounts
Favourite rikishi/heya and get notifications about them. Customised dashboard so you can see all their updates. And access to more features in the future.
Results-Basho
Finishing the results/basho page with a basho overview to quickly see stats and best matches. Watch bout clips and switch between them quickly!
Banzuke
Balancing information density without overwhelming the UI. Improving caching of previous banzuke positions for faster access to historical data.
More Bout Clips
Using some ai to automatically find and cut bouts instead of manual editing. Growing the database with high-quality, consistent angle videos.
Database & LLM Improvements
Updating the LLM model to be smarter and reorganizing the database for more efficient queries. It's still goofy at the moment.
Improved Caching
Implementing better caching so it updates with the latest info instead of being stuck on old data unless you hard refresh.
